Rhythm & Resin Festival
Celebrating Surf History
Rhythm & Resin Festival is a day of celebrating the artists of Southern California’s surfing history - specifically honouring the boardbuilders: the craftsmen who have been sanding, grinding, and perfecting the surfboards our community have been riding on for decades. These artisans work behind the scenes, in small rooms and garages hidden in the corners of our community and they deserve acknowledgement and appreciation for their careers.
In San Clemente, these boardbuilders have historically been found working in the Los Molinos district - “the surf ghetto”. It’s here that we are putting their names down in a Boardbuilders Hall of Fame - putting their names down in history - on the sidewalk to commemorate them for the decades to come. The morning of R&R Fest we host an induction ceremony to honor a handful of boardbuilders each year.
A Community Event
The town of San Clemente is rich in history, culture and wonderful people. Our goal at the Rhythm & Resin Festival is to bring together the community and celebrate our surf history and love of live music. One thing we know about this corner of Orange County - the community loves to show up and support for a good time. We want to support the local businesses and growing brands, educate and connect with the boardbuilding history of the “surf ghetto” and to enjoy a day of live music with your South Orange County friends and family.
R&R Fest is about enjoying the end of summer, supporting local businesses, learning some surf history and listening to your favorite band - local or national names - with a cold drink in one hand and good food in the other.
